Dr.-Ing. Alexander Willner is the director of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) center at the Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems (FOKUS) and head of the IIoT research group at the Technical University Berlin (TUB). He is working with his teams to transfer IoT technologies to industrial fields of application, such as smart manufacturing (Industry 4.0). The focus lies on the integration of industrial networks, standard-based communication protocols, semantic interoperability and fog-based service orchestration for intelligent and autonomous cyber-physical systems (CPSs).
Alexander Willner studied Computer Science at the University of Göttingen, was working as a researcher at the University Bonn and finished his PhD at the Technical University Berlin. He is active in according groups in the Plattform Industrie 4.0, VDI/VDE-GMA, bitkom and offers courses at the TUB.
