Jim Morrish is a respected IoT industry expert, with over 20 years’ experience of strategy consulting, operations management and telecoms research. Previously he was Founder and the Chief Research Officer of Machina Research, the world’s leading provider of strategic advice on the newly emerging M2M, IoT and Big Data markets, which he sold to Gartner in 2016.

Jim is a co-author of the Ignite|IoT project management framework for IoT and the accompanying book entitled “Enterprise IoT” (ISBN 9781491924839). He is responsible for the addition of the terms Low Power Wide Area (LPWA) networking and Subnet of Things (SoT) to the lexicon of the IoT.

He is currently Chair of a number of working groups of the Industrial Internet Consortium (the IIC – the world’s leading organization transforming business and society by accelerating the Industrial Internet of Things), including Business Strategy and Solution Lifecycle, and Use Cases.

Jim is an experienced conference speaker including for blue chip events such as the IET’s Pinkerton Lecture, and the GSMA’s Mobile World Congress. Additionally, he is a member of the advisory boards for a number of IoT industry conferences and is a Member of the Global Advisory Body of the IET’s IoT India Panel.

Previous experience includes time with Nokia, Huawei, the British Broadcasting Corporation, Cable & Wireless and Analysys Mason. Jim has a degree in Mathematics and a Master of Arts from the University of Oxford.
