Louay Bassbouss is a senior research engineer in the Business Unit Future Applications and Media (FAME) of the Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communications Systems (FOKUS) in Berlin. He received his diploma degree in computer engineering from the Technical University of Berlin in 2008. His main research focuses on developing future web technologies in the fields of cross-device & cross-platform applications and Web of Things. Louay has actively participated in many standardization activities by W3C and HbbTV in these research areas. He is one of the active contributors in the W3C Web of Things (WoT) group. He believes in the true potential of the web to unlock the product silos in a highly fragmented IoT landscape. From his point of view, WoT is a great foundation to build data interoperability across devices and domains based on open standards and technologies we use today to interact with resources on the web.
