Saskia Vlaar has been working in the field of Innovation and Applied Research for 20 years. In 2014 she joined Shell working for the Chief Technology Officer, and currently is the General Manager for Innovation and Centers of Expertise for Advanced Analytics, High Performance Computing, Sensors and Computational Technologies.
Prior to joining Shell she worked at TNO (the largest Dutch institute for Applied Research), where she was Director of Research for the Applied Research Clusters working on Innovation driven by IT and Defense Technology. She held several leadership positions in TNO, including The Company Secretary. Saskia started her career at KPN in the field of network optimization and innovation.
Saskia has studied Econometrics and specialized in Operations Research. She has a passion for real-life application of new, innovative thinking and technology. She lives in Leiden with her husband and their son and daughter.
