Steve Turner leads work across Greater Manchester on the low carbon economy covering both strategic and operational issues. He co-ordinates Greater Manchester’s low carbon economy programme with specific input around investment, infrastructure, innovation and skills. His current work includes that with Siemens on a Manchester Technology Innovation Centre and a bid to locate the Green Investment Bank in the city. He is a board member of the University of Manchester’s Low Carbon Incubator Centre and was previously a board member of Foundation.

Steve’s previous private sector experience includes work for a number of major global clients covering a range of strategic economic appraisals for major infrastructure and regeneration projects as well as environmental economy studies. He also spent 7 years working at the London Borough of Southwark where he led work on sustainable development including that within the boroughs major regeneration programmes along Bankside and Peckham. During his time at Southwark he established one of the UK’s first delivery bodies focussing specifically on the low carbon agenda, which he served on as a non-executive director.

He studied at the University of Sheffield and Imperial College, London where he graduated in Geography and Environmental Technology respectively. He lives in Manchester.
